La audiencia de Estados Unidos habló: Sofía Vergara fue la mejor actriz de comedia y Jennifer Lopez, de drama.

Los People’s Choice Awards premiaron además este miércoles a las películas “Buscando a Dory” y “Deadpool”, así como la animadora Ellen DeGeneres, de 47 años, que hizo historia al convertirse en la artista más galardonada en esta ceremonia, con un total de 20 estatuillas desde el inicio de su carrera.

La gran diferencia de estos premios es que los Óscar y los Emmy son escogidos por los miembros de las academias, mientras que en los “People’s Choice” vota la gente.





El premio a Vergara -la estrella mejor pagada de televisión de Estados Unidos- fue por su rol en la serie de televisión “Modern Family”.

“Nunca pensé, en un millón de años, que con este acento ridículo iba a poder ser parte de algo tan exitoso, tan amado por todos ustedes como lo es ‘Modern Family'”, dijo en inglés al aceptar el premio.

Era la quinta nominación y primera estatuilla para esta colombiana de 47 años.

El papel de Gloria en la serie de ABC “me ha abierto tantas puertas, ha cambiado mi vida, le ha abierto la puerta a otros muchos actores latinos, pero necesitamos que se abran muchas más puertas”, añadió.

Por su parte, López ganó por su papel como la detective Harlee Santos en la serie “Shades Of Blue” de NBC.

“Mi gente, gracias”, dijo en español. “Los amo”, añadió en inglés.

Robert Downey Jr., que ganó en 2015, también ganó en películas de acción, así como Margot Robbie.

El premio a la mejor película de suspenso fue “La chica del tren.” En cuanto a Johnny Depp, fue declarado “icono de la película” del año.

Britney Spears, por su parte, ganó en tres categorías: mejor artista femenina, artista pop y artista favorito en las redes sociales, a la que se añade otra distinción compartida con DeGeneres a la mejor colaboración televisión.

En televisión, “Outlander” fue elegida como la mejor serie, y “The Big Bang Theory” como la mejor comedia sobre una red de canales terrestres.

Los Óscar, los premios de cine más prestigiosos de Estados Unidos, serán entregados el 26 de febrero después de los Grammy, los premios musicales más populares, el 12 de febrero.
