A woman in a traditional dress from Jakarta takes part in a ceremony to present female Sumatran tiger Mayang, born in 2011, and male Sumatran tiger Harfan, born in 2008, at Berlin’s Tierpark zoo on March 27, 2014. Mayang and Harfan are on loan from Indonesia’s Taman Safari zoo, for conservation purposes and in the hope that they will produce offspring. The Sumatran tiger is a rare tiger subspecies that inhabits the Indonesian island of Sumatra and is classified as critically endangered with between 350 to 450 individuals left.
