Members of Venezuela’s National Guard stand guard outside a Daka store as shoppers wait to shop for electronic goods in Caracas November 25, 2014. Thousands of Venezuelans gathered on Tuesday at the gates of the popular chain of appliance stores trying to buy items with low prices in a shopping spree subsidised by Venezuela’s Socialist government. Around the Daka stores in Caracas potential buyers were trying to get their names on shopper lists so they could enter the stores, emulating the long lines generated one year ago by the “Dacazo”, when President Nicolas Maduro ordered to cut prices of the appliances in the country.
