Enfrentamientos entre estudiantes universitarios y policías en la ciudad venezolana de San Cristóbal (frontera oeste con Colombia) dejaron este miércoles una veintena de lesionados, informó una fuente académica.

“En la brigada de atención de primeros auxilios de la UNET (Universidad Experimental del Táchira) se atendieron 21 heridos por perdigones, gas y otros motivos”, dijo a periodistas José Andrés Molina, directivo del centro educativo.

Los choques se desataron cuando alumnos de la UNET (pública) bloquearon varias vías cerca de la institución -en rechazo a sentencias del máximo tribunal contra el Parlamento- y los agentes antimotines intentaron desalojarlos.

Algunos estudiantes exigían además el alza de un subsidio de transporte.

Los manifestantes respondieron con piedras, palos y bombas de estruendo, mientras la policía dispersó gases lacrimógenos y disparó perdigones, según reporteros de la AFP en el lugar.

Debido a los disturbios, las clases en la UNET fueron suspendidas, anunció la institución en un comunicado.

Pequeñas escaramuzas también se registraron en cercanías de una universidad privada y una avenida de San Cristóbal -capital del estado Táchira-, en protesta por recientes fallos con los cuales el Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) se adjudicó temporalmente los poderes del Legislativo, de mayoría opositora, y retiró la inmunidad a los diputados.

En San Cristóbal iniciaron las protestas contra el gobierno de Maduro en 2014, que dejaron 43 muertos entre febrero y mayo de ese año.

A raíz de esas manifestaciones, el dirigente opositor Leopoldo López fue condenado a casi 14 años de cárcel, acusado de incitar a la violencia.

El martes, una protesta opositora en Caracas dejó medio centenar de heridos y una docena de detenidos -según la oposición- luego de enfrentamientos con la policía y grupos oficialistas. No hubo un reporte oficial de esos incidentes.

Para este jueves está prevista otra movilización en la capital.
