El Museo de la Mierda … La idea suena asquerosa. Sin embargo, en Castelbosco, en plena campiña italiana, no tiene nada de repugnante, ya que se trata de transformar las heces en algo de mucho valor.





Todo nació en una gran granja, de un centenar de kilómetros, en el sur de Milán (norte) y de sus cientos de vacas que producían montañas de bosta.

“Había que sacar provecho de esos excrementos de los animales, y en forma ecológica. Al final logramos convertirlos en algo útil”, cuenta a la AFP el propietario de la hacienda, Gianantonio Locatelli, de 61 años.

Sus 3.500 bovinos producen diariamente 550 quintales (55 toneladas) de leche para la fabricación del tradicional queso Grana Padano, entre los más apreciados de Italia.

Menos noble, los bovinos producen también 1.500 quintales (150 toneladas) de estiércol, un verdadero dolor de cabeza.

Locatelli resolvió el reto con un ingenioso sistema: Las heces se recolectan para ser luego introducidas en enormes tanques, donde las bacterias son convertidas en gas metano. El laboratorio ofrece un olor realmente molesto.

Sin embargo, ese metano sirve para alimentar motores y generar electricidad, que la granja aprovecha para vender a privados. Actualmente produce el equivalente de lo que un pueblo de 3.000 a 4.000 habitantes consume.

– “Merdacotta”, una arcilla secreta –

El agua utilizada para enfriar los motores del tratamiento debe subir hasta una temperatura de 100 grados, lo que permite garantizar calefacción a toda la granja en invierno y mantener los tanques a 40 grados de temperatura como se requiere.

Una parte del estiércol va a ser comercializado como fertilizante en los supermercados, según adelantó Locatelli, quien no ha querido revelar el costo de toda la operación.

Otra parte del estiércol sobrante ha sido utilizada para crear una serie de objetos, desde vajillas hasta piezas de uso cotidiano, todos con un estilo elegante y a la vez rústico.

Bajo la marca “Merdacotta” (literalmente “Mierda cocida”) ha sido realizada una colección de objetos con una mezcla “secreta” de arcilla de Toscana, ladrillo, tejas, macetas, platos y excrementos depurados.

“Se trata de un producto revolucionario, entre el plástico y la terracota”, sostiene Locatelli, quien utiliza como símbolo un escarabajo, insecto coprófago e imprescindible para la naturaleza por abonar la tierra y controlar los parásitos.

La colección firmada Merdacotta fue premiada el año pasado por la Feria del Diseño de Milán, por su loca idea de “convertir la mierda en algo gracioso”.

– Un museo original –

Fundado en el 2005, el museo dedicado a la mierda exhibe varias obras de arte que se inspiran al tema o que han sido realizadas con pinturas fabricadas con mierda líquida.

Se rinde homenaje entre otros al filme “El fantasma de la libertad” de Luis Buñuel, donde la escala de valores entre alimentos y aseo se invierte.

Diseñado con el arquitecto Luca Cipelletti, el museo refleja la personalidad de Locatelli, quien estudió agronomía en Canadá, conoció de joven a Andy Warhol en Nueva York y es un colecccionista de arte conceptual.

“Es mi forma de agradecer a la mierda”, confiesa con tono provocador.
