De blanco y con rosas blancas en sus manos, decenas de miles de mujeres opositoras salieron el sábado a las calles de Venezuela a marchar contra el gobierno de Nicolás Maduro, en un nuevo episodio de masivas protestas que han dejado al menos 37 personas muertas, reseña Reuters.

Sin embargo, un cordón militar, respaldado por policías, impedía el avance de la marcha sin que hasta ahora se hayan presentado incidentes.

“En las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía hay muchos que se preguntaban si hoy le disparan a sus esposas, hijas y madres. Espero nos dejen llegar al Ministerio. Si no nos reprimen, el mensaje es muy poderoso, creo que en el gobierno subestimaron esta movilización”, dijo la diputada Gaby Arellano a la AFP.





Las mujeres también protestaron en las demás ciudades del país.

En Caracas, en tanto, mujeres partidarias del Gobierno socialista de Maduro, ataviadas de rojo, se congregaron en una plaza del centro de la ciudad para recorrer los pocos kilómetros que la separan de la sede de la Defensoría del Pueblo, y manifestarse en contra de las protestas opositoras, reseña Reuters.

“Soy madre y me duelen todos y cada uno de esos jóvenes que ha asesinado vilmente este régimen dictatorial”, dijo a Reuters Anais Gil, una docente de 30 años de edad, que salió a caminar en Caracas con un gorro amarillo, azul y rojo -los colores de la bandera de Venezuela- y una camisa blanca.

En Estados Unidos, la Casa Blanca informó el sábado que el asesor de seguridad nacional del presidente Donald Trump se reunió el viernes con el presidente de la Asamblea Nacional de Venezuela, liderada por la oposición, y concordaron en que la crisis políticas en Caracas debe ser llevada a una conclusión rápida y pacífica.

Religiosas, mujeres vestidas con el tricolor nacional, otras con el torso descubierto y la cara tapada, caminaron por la principal autopista del este de Caracas cantando el himno nacional y gritando “¡libertad!”. Pero su paso fue bloqueado a pocos kilómetros por piquetes de las fuerzas de seguridad.

En el centro de Caracas, en la concentración oficialista Fredesvilda Paulino, una cocinera, de 54 años, expresó que su marcha es contra el “terrorismo de la oposición”. “Lo están destruyendo todo, esta gente roba y destruye”, dijo a Reuters.

En el sur del país, en el estado Bolívar, las mujeres que encabezaron la marcha opositora caminaron en sostén. En el estado Táchira, fronterizo con la vecina Colombia, además de consignas contra Maduro, las manifestantes llevaron rosarios y oraron por las víctimas de las protestas.

La oposición acumula poco más de un mes protestando para lograr la convocatoria a elecciones generales adelantadas, entre otras demandas. Maduro, heredero político del fallecido Hugo Chávez, activó recientemente una Asamblea Constituyente e insiste en que las manifestaciones persiguen una insurgencia armada.
