Pippa Middleton, cuñada del príncipe Guillermo, se casó hoy con el financiero James Matthews en una ceremonia privada en una capilla inglesa del siglo XII, en la que el príncipe Jorge actuó de paje y la pequeña Carlota fue dama de honor.

Como en los mejores historias de Jane Austin, Pippa Middleton, de 33 años, eligió un pequeño y pintoresco templo de la localidad de Englefield, en el sur de Inglaterra, para la boda, considerada el evento social del año y que ha generado un gran interés mediático.

A pesar de que se trató de un enlace privado, numerosos curiosos y medios de comunicación, especialmente televisiones de EEUU, acudieron a las inmediaciones de la capilla St. Mark, donde el reverendo Nick Wynne-Jones ofició la unión.





A Pippa, hermana menor de la duquesa de Cambridge, se la vio radiante con un elegante vestido en color marfil del diseñador británico Giles Deacon, realizado en encaje con un ligero escote en la espalda y entallado en la cintura, que daba la impresión de ser una pieza entera sin costuras, que acompañó con velo en tul y una tiara, y zapatos de seda del español Manolo Blahnik.

El vestido llevaba debajo varias faldas superpuestas de organdí para dar un movimiento de barrido del suelo al andar.

El diseñador declaró hoy que fue un “privilegio” haber mostrado el trabajo artesanal que hace su equipo en Londres y demuestra el importante “apoyo de Pippa a la moda británica”.

La novia, muy sonriente, llegó al templo en un coche descapotable, acompañada de su padre, Michael Middleton, mientras les esperaban los hijos de los duques de Cambridge, el príncipe Jorge, de casi 4 años, y la princesa Carlota, de 2.

Los pequeños, vestidos en colores marfil y dorado sobrio, acapararon la atención de los invitados, y fue la duquesa de Cambridge, que llevaba un vestido en tonos rosados y pamela a tono, la encargada de que los niños siguieran las instrucciones.

Se pudo ver al príncipe Enrique, nieto de la reina Isabel II, y numerosos amigos y familiares, como el tenista Roger Federer y su esposa, Mirka, y algunos integrantes de la realeza británica, aunque no estuvieron el príncipe Carlos ni su esposa Camilla.

En un día ligeramente soleado aunque con amenaza de lluvia, la localidad de Englefield, ubicada en el condado de Berkshire, a las afueras de Londres, atrajo la atención de lugareños y seguidores de la familia real, que viajaron desde varios puntos del Reino Unido para ver a Pippa Middleton y a los duques de Cambridge.

Al príncipe Enrique se le vio entrar al templo junto a su hermano, Guillermo, y había expectación por la posible presencia de la novia de éste, la actriz Meghan Markle, famosa por la serie “Suits”, aunque no fue vista entre los invitados a la ceremonia.

Tras el enlace, los novios y los invitados acudieron a la recepción realizada en una marquesina montada en los jardines de la casa de los padres de Pippa, en la cercana localidad de Bucklebury.

Sin una profesión concreta, Pippa se convirtió en una celebridad tras la boda de su hermana, la duquesa de Cambridge, con el príncipe Guillermo -segundo en la línea de sucesión a la corona-, en abril de 2011, al lucir un elegante vestido de seda en color marfil que le marcaba particularmente la falda por detrás.

Desde entonces, Pippa empezó a aparecer en las revistas y periódicos cada vez que asistía a un evento social mientras su vida sentimental era seguida con atención por la prensa rosa.

La hermana de Kate Middleton se comprometió con Matthews el año pasado tras una relación estable que empezó en 2015, si bien ambos se conocían y habían salido brevemente en 2012, según la prensa.

Educado en el exclusivo colegio privado de Eton, igual que los príncipes Guillermo y Enrique, Matthews procede de una familia acomodada, con intereses hoteleros en el Caribe.

Mathews es también conocido por tener un hermano actor, Spencer, que se hizo célebre en el programa de tele-realidad “Made in Chelsea”, centrado en la vida y las relaciones sentimentales de unos jóvenes de clase alta de ese exclusivo barrio de Londres.
