Más de 1.200 coches Fiat 500 procedentes de diversas regiones de Europa se reunieron este sábado en Garlenda, cerca de la costa noroeste de Italia, para celebrar los 60 años de este icono del automovilismo.

El pequeño coche italiano dio sus primeras vueltas el 4 de junio de 1957, en presencia de Giovanni Agnelli, entonces jefe máximo de Fiat.

En 18 años, se han fabricado más de 4,2 millones de unidades de Fiat 500. Tras una interrupción de 22 años, la fabricación de este modelo se reanudó en 2007 en una versión más moderna, pero con las mismas formas curvas, y fabricada desde entonces en dos millones de ejemplares, según Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).

Fueron los antiguos modelos los invitados este sábado en Garlenda, para esta 34ª edición del encuentro.

Icono del diseño y de un cierto modo de vida de la posguerra mundial, el Fiat 500 hizo su entrada esta semana en el prestigioso Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) de New York.
