La primera y última superluna del año 2017 comenzó a verse en otros países del mundo. A pesar de que será difícil apreciarlo a simple vista, aquellos que tengan el privilegio de un cielo despejado podrán comprobar que estará más grande y brillante que nunca.

El fenómeno se produce cuando hay una Luna llena y el satélite terrestre atraviesa el punto de su órbita más cercano. La órbita de la luna es elíptica, por eso hay momentos en que está más o menos cerca del planeta y puede aumentar su brillo hasta en un 30% (apogeo y perigeo). En esta oportunidad en particular, la Luna podrá verse un 14% más grande que su tamaño y se acercará 357.495 kilómetros a la Tierra (unos 26.000 menos de lo habitual) además de que coincidirá con el periodo de Luna nueva o Luna llena.
