El príncipe Harry y su prometida, Meghan Markle, se reunieron hoy con el primer ministro australiano, Malcolm Turnbull, y su mujer, Lucy, junto a los que recibieron a veteranos de guerra lesionados que participaran en los próximos Juegos Invictus.

Turnbull manifestó que en los juegos, que se celebrarán en Sídney del 20 al 27 de octubre, los participantes “recibirán el respeto y reconocimiento que tanto merecen” y aseguró que será un “competición formidable”.

Invictus, creado hace tres años por el príncipe Harry, es la única competición internacional deportiva para miliares en activo o retirados que hayan sufrido heridas, mutilaciones o traumas o que padezcan enfermedades causantes de discapacidades.

El nieto de la reina Isabel II fue hoy elogiado por estos militares, entre ellos Jo Harsey, quien aseguró que Harry “no es consciente de cuantas vidas ha cambiado” con la creación de esta competición.

“Realmente se preocupa por la gente que conoce y le importan las historias de las personas”, agregó Gareth Paterson, medallista en los juegos de Orlando y Toronto.

En esta cuarta edición participarán más de 500 competidores procedentes de 17 países y se espera que a ellos acuda el príncipe con la estadounidense Markle, con quien contraerá matrimonio el próximo 19 de mayo en el Castillo de Windsor.

Precisamente Harry y Markle se conocieron en mayo de 2016 en Canadá, cuando el hermano del duque de Cambridge se encontraba promocionando en Toronto esta competición, reseñó EFE.
