President Biden supports comprehensive negotiations leading to free and fair elections in Venezuela

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, held a telephone meeting with his counterpart in Colombia, Iván Duque, where they reaffirmed the alliance of both countries to achieve a solution to the Venezuelan crisis.

During the conversation, Biden supported comprehensive negotiations in Venezuela in order to achieve free and fair elections in Venezuela and shared his concern for the serious humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and the regional impact it has caused.

On the other hand, he highlighted the urgency of broadening the international consensus and the support of the democratic countries of the world to achieve a sustainable and lasting solution to the Venezuelan crisis.

Last Friday, June 25th, the United States together with the government of Canada and the European Union issued a statement in support of a negotiation that leads to solving the crisis in Venezuela and to free and verifiable presidential and parliamentary elections.
