The Deputy of the National Assembly, Rafael Veloz García, warned that Venezuelan healthcare personnel are unaware of any scientific studies that support the Cuban vaccine prototypes.

The healthcare professionals demanded through a statement that the ‘Abdala’ vaccine not be administered until there is a scientific report published by qualified experts.

The workers of the sector, grouped in the FAP, Confepuv and the Inprenfermería, point out that “citizens have the right to know the details of the results of the studies of qualified experts on the Cuban experimental products ‘Abdala’ and ‘Soberana 02’ against COVID-19, which has not happened.”
The members of the healthcare personnel of the Frente Amplio Profesional, the Confederation of University Professionals of Venezuela (Confepuv) and the Inprenfermería affirm that the country has not been told the truth in relation to these vaccine candidates from Cuba, ‘Abdala’ and ‘Soberana 02’. “They are still in the experimental phase and experts, scientists and all of us do not have concrete information on the studies that have been carried out,” warned Mayra Bernal from Confepuv.
“For this reason, we are concerned that Maduro’s regime has signed an agreement with Cuba for the shipment of 12 million doses of what they already qualify as a “vaccine against the coronavirus”, such as the so-called ‘Abdala de Cuba’. We are not against any vaccine, wherever they come from, we only demand that the results of the research be disclosed,” added the graduate nurse.
“As in everything in this regime, there is a lot of opacity. There is talk that Venezuelans will be used as guinea pigs in their experimental phases. Well, in order to do that, they have to inform well those who will volunteer for its application, if that is the case, especially when it is related to a vaccine prototype,” said Ms. Bernal.
“In fact, all citizens of the country have the right to know the details of the results of the studies of qualified experts on these Cuban experimental products ‘Abdala’ and ‘Soberana 02’ against COVID-19. This has not happened,” she said.
Are we out of Vaccines?
Mayra Bernal stressed that they have seen with concern how people have gone to the places where they are vaccinating and after a long wait they are told that there are no vaccines, something that has happened even with those who have received text messages to go to get immunized.
“Nor has the country’s health personnel been prioritized for vaccination, as is logical and as is done all over the world. All this suggests that we are running out of vaccines and show that this situation is generated because this regime has not developed firm and clear strategies that correspond to a true vaccination plan,” she said.
