Francisco sufrió este domingo una pequeña cortadura en la ceja y una inflamación en el pómulo izquierdo después de un frenazo del papamóvil que lo transportaba por un barrio de la caribeña ciudad de Cartagena.





“El papa está bien (…) Se le aplicó hielo y se medicó. Prosigue sin cambio alguno su programa de viaje”, dijo a medios el vocero del Vaticano, Greg Burke.

El pontífice de 80 años saludaba a los cientos de personas que lo recibían en el marginal barrio de San Francisco cuando, por la multitud que se agolpaba en las calles, el vehículo que lo movilizaba frenó súbitamente.

La maniobra le hizo estrellarse contra el vidrio. Uno de los agentes de seguridad lo asistió al momento y le limpió con un pañuelo blanco el sudor y la sangre, que le alcanzó a manchar el simar (capa de la túnica blanca).

“Me dieron una piñada (puñetazo)”, bromeó el pontífice al ser preguntado más tarde por periodistas.

Francisco, que cierra este domingo su visita de cinco a días a Colombia, siguió con su recorrido de 3,5 kilómetros hasta la plaza central de San Francisco, uno de los barrios más pobres de la conocida ciudad turística.

Posteriormente, el jerarca reapareció ante sus fieles con una curación en el rostro y su túnica limpia.

El papa viajará este domingo a Roma luego de abogar principalmente por la paz y la reconciliación en un país que busca superar un conflicto armado de cinco décadas, reseña AFP.
