Ramona Canete, una madre francesa de 37 años, fue condenada hoy a ocho años de prisión por haber asesinado a cinco de sus recién nacidos entre 2009 y 2015, según la sentencia pronunciada por el Tribunal Penal de Burdeos (suroeste del país), reseña AFP.
Una vez cumplida la condena, la madre deberá además someterse a un seguimiento sociojurídico durante cinco años y bajo mandato judicial de asistencia médica, añadió el tribunal.
El fiscal, Xavier Chavigné, había solicitado doce años de reclusión criminal contra la acusada.
En 2015, cinco bebés muertos fueron descubiertos, cuatro en un congelador y uno en una bolsa isotérmica, en el domicilio de la madre en la localidad de Louchats (suroeste de Francia), donde vivía con su marido y sus dos hijas de 17 y 19 años.
Fue una de las hijas quien dio la alerta tras encontrar el cuerpo sin vida del recién nacido en la bolsa.
Según la versión de la madre, nadie de su entorno llegó a enterarse de sus embarazos ya que llevaba “ropa muy ancha” para disimular su abultado vientre.
Canete, a pesar de haber insistido en que no se acordaba con precisión de los hechos hasta su juicio, que se inició el pasado lunes, confesó que dio a luz en secreto y dejó en el agua de su bañera a sus hijos antes de congelarlos.
